NOT YOUR MAMA’S BRUSSEL SPROUTS

So I often hear the same narrative about Brussel sprouts and how awful they are and how some were forced to eat them as children. I have to say I didn’t have the same experience. I grew up in a southern cooking household so instead of Brussels we just had cabbage and yes it was boiled but my mama put her touch on them and they were always GREAT! So when I “grew up” and started cooking I tried my hands at making Brussels but never cared for them because something was “off”. That was until I discovered Roasted Brussel Sprouts….then life CHANGED!

I’m going to walk you through the steps that I take to achieve some of the best tasting brussels sprouts ever that can be made in the comforts of your home in just 40 minutes. So if you’re interested, keep on reading!

Here are the Ingredients needed:

  • I used 2 lbs of Brussel Sprouts

  • 1 cup of brown sugar

  • Turkey Bacon (about 6 slices)

  • Olive Oil

  • Kosher Salt (To taste)

  • 1 TBSP Pepper

1st: I cut the brussels in 4th’s

2nd: Place the cut Brussels on a cookie sheet and drizzle with Olive Oil.

3rd: Dice up 6 slices of Turkey Bacon.

4th: Add the Turkey Bacon and season everything with Salt, Pepper and mix well.

5th: Add the Brown Sugar and mix well.

Last but not least place in the over for 35 mins on 400 degrees. halfway through the cooking, shake the cooke sheet to move the brussels around so that they can brown on all sides and place back in the over. VOILA! Enjoy!
