FEBRUARY: THE MONTH OF (SELF) CARE
Hey y’all! Happy Friday!
I don’t know about you, but New Year’s Resolutions always get me thinking about how I can take better care of myself. This year has got me evaluating my daily routine, and how I move throughout my day. I noticed areas where I don’t feel as good as I could, or as productive as I want to be. Not to mention, these Chicago winters can make anyone want to hide under a comfy blanket all day!
What I wanted to do was track how I was feeling when I practiced new habits and experienced the discomfort of trying new things. For example, we installed our TEMPO Gym and it has been such a great treat for Kennedy and I to workout together. You can watch my little video about that here!
Taking care of my health with vitamins and probiotics has been a huge help with self-care as well. It is so easy for me to forget to add this to my daily routine. It’s been UNREAL how helpful remembering to take these has been for my energy levels, my skin and overall mood. This is definitely a habit that I am continuing for the long haul! Fueling my body with healthful and nutrient packed snacks like my go-to KIND bars has been great too, and cuts down on the stops I make in the car with the kids, since they love them too!
Another big thing that has helped me is working on enhancing small areas of my house to become more and more my own. From house to home, right? If you haven’t seen my hand-painted stencil wall, check it out here!
I was reading an article this past week about the importance of self-care, and the act of self-love. Practicing self-care has been proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, improve energy, and WAY MORE!
Below are the ways I am practicing self-care this month (and with help from my habit tracker, from now on!)
Moving my body as much as possible
Drinking at least 8 ounces of water per day
Dedicating time each week to plan out dinners
Getting dressed and put together at least 3 days per week
Spending more time off my phone each night and having quality time with the kiddos
I’d love to know some of the ways you take care of yourself during the craziness of parenting, life and all of the things we are trying to accomplish in this world!
Cheering you on!
