MIELLE ORGANICS POMEGRANATE AND HONEY: DEMO AND REVIEW
Hey Loves!
I got my hands on the newly launched Pomegranate and Honey Collection that is being released by Mielle Organics at the end of the month (September 2017). And ya’ll……ya’ll….. this line it THEE truth! I filmed this video showing you how I achieved this super defined and shiny style on my tapered cut.
Here are the steps that I did to achieve this style:
First – I parted and sectioned my hair how I planned on wearing it, which is in a side part. That’s somewhat my go to style.
Second – I moisturized my hair with the Pomegranate and Honey Leave in Conditioner. So let’s get to the nitty gritty of this conditioner. It is extremely hydrating and offers a very pleasant but not harsh scent. If you are a person that has issues with strong scents in hair products I think you will be fine with this one. As for the consistency it is very thick, unlike the original Leave In Conditioner that they released which is the White Peony that comes in a spray bottle. I have used that one for Wash N Go’s when my hair was longer but this one is much different, in a good way. It seems suitable for kinkier textures in respect to having the ability to penetrate the strands and lock in moisture, just my observation.
Third – I used the Pomade to Oil Treatment which is actually from the Mongongo Oil Collection, and is a certified BANGER! If you have not tried it, stop right now….right now….go the Mielle Organics website and order it OR stop in a Sally’s and grab it. You’ll thank me later I promise.
Fourth – I used the Pomegranate and Honey Curling Custard which has a gel like consistency but looser. I found that this custard did a great job of providing shine and hold but did an excellent job of not creating any flakes or crunch. If comparing this to another brand I would say it is very similar to the SheaMoisure Coconut and Hibiscus Curling Souffle. This is not nearly as thick but I think it does a better job of creating a nice set, specifically for the finger coils that I used this for. I specifically put this product to test on my finger coils. Finger Coils can be tricky. You want them to have hold so that when you take them down they maintain their definition BUT you don’t want them crunchy to the point that when you’re taking them down you create frizz, so there is a definitely a balance needed to successfully achieve this style and I think this is perfect product to achieve that.
Fifth – I used the Twisting Souffle and HUNTY …..this was the star of the show for me. This deserves ALLLL of the awards in the realm of Natural Hair Care. So as you may know there are many many shuffle’s and butter, and twisting creams on the market. But let me just tell you that there are NONE like this one. NONE. I have always held my Camille Rose Twisting Almond Jai Butter and EdenBodyWorks Curl Defining Creme to the highest standard of products for achieving the DOPEST twistouts to mankind…that was UNTIL I got my hands on this Souffle right here. Quite frankly I will say that if you purchase anything from this collection THIS needs to be the product. It is so incredibly hydrating, provides great definition, the shine is out of this world and it lasts….as in 2 to 3 days later my hair was still hydrated and didn’t require any additional moisture. This products is the truth. I used this product solely for the Flat Twists that I did for the hair in the crown of my head. everything that is “tapered” was finger coiled.
Lastly – I took my hair down, meaning I unraveled the flat twists in the top and uncoiled each Finger Coil only once. You don’t want to separate the coils too much more than that if you actually want the style to last you so my recommendation is to only uncoil them once the first day and then each day thereafter you can fluff more.
And that’s it folks! That’s how I achieve d this style. If you are a visual person like myself then go ahead and click the link to the video where I show you step by step how I achieved this style and also where I provide another in depth review of the products that I now call “bae”…
Til’ next time…
XOXO
